Splittr is a simple expense-splitting tool. We try to collect as little as possible. This page explains what we do collect, why, and what your rights are.

No accounts

Splittr does not require sign-up, login, email, or phone number. Each group has a unique link; anyone with the link can view and edit the group. We do not associate your activity with any personal identity.

What we store

When you use Splittr, the following is saved:

  • Group name and emoji you choose.
  • Names you enter for group members. These are free text — you decide whether to use real names, nicknames, or initials.
  • Expense entries: description, amount, who paid, and how it was split.
  • Settlements (who paid back whom, when).
  • Optional Venmo or Zelle handles you choose to add to a member, used to display a one-tap settle-up shortcut. You can leave these blank.

Your device also stores a small list of recently visited groups and a record of which member of a group you are. This data lives in your browser or app local storage and is not sent to our servers beyond the normal group queries.

What we do not collect

  • No advertising or analytics SDKs.
  • No tracking across apps or websites.
  • No location data.
  • No contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access.
  • No payment processing — Venmo/Zelle handles are stored as plain text and used only as deep links to those apps. We never see your financial accounts or balances.

Where data lives

Group, member, expense, and settlement data is stored in a Postgres database hosted by Supabase in the United States (us-west-2 region). The web and iOS apps are hosted on Vercel. Both providers act as sub-processors for storage and delivery only; they do not access the data for any other purpose.

Sharing

Because access to a group is controlled by its link, anyone you share the link with can see the group. Only treat group links as private to the people you want in the group. We do not sell or share your data with anyone outside the providers above.

Retention

We keep your group data until you ask us to delete it. There is no automatic expiration today. If you stop using Splittr, your data remains accessible to anyone with the group link until removed.

Deleting your data

To remove a group, an expense, or any personal data, email support@splittr.us with the group link or ID and what you would like deleted. We will action it within a reasonable time and respond once it is done.

Children

Splittr is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in regions where that is the relevant age). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used Splittr and you would like the data removed, contact us at the email above.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, post a notice on the home page for a reasonable period.
